Revitalization:

Building Together

In the early days the followers of Jesus were listening to God’s Spirit call a new community of peace into being. The followers of Jesus joyfully prayed and ate together. They gathered for fellowship and, yes, they shared their resources.

Just as Jesus and his disciples were supported by generous friends and ministry partners, so the shared ministry of our regional church depends on your generosity.

Join us in supporting congregations and leaders. Churches are finding renewed purpose and reimagining ministry in fresh, inspiring ways. We are privileged to walk alongside them, yet we can’t do this alone.

our donations are necessary to enable the transformational work of MCEC.

Several weeks ago, a group of Mennonite congregational leaders from across Canada met to discuss church revitalization. Participants explored what it takes for a faith community to engage the needs of a neighbourhood and how congregations can adapt to new cultural realities.

MCEC has long been blessed with a healthy combination of new and established congregations, combining new life with time-tested faithfulness.

We are persistently engaged in the work of revitalization, encouraging both faithfulness and creativity. Would you consider supporting this work?

Stories That Matter

Closing Well - Bethel Mennonite Church

“We are leaving quite a legacy and it’s something we will never completely see,” says Steve Hiller, a member of Bethel Mennonite Church (Elora), which will close its doors at the end of October. “We have no idea how many lives God has touched through Bethel. My life was changed here, and I’m just one person. There are hundreds more.”

As Bethel prepares for its final service, members remember and celebrate God’s faithfulness across 78 years. At Bethel’s 75th anniversary, someone referenced a map of the world indicating Bethel’s global outreach – at least 42 countries where members had served. Closer to home, countless lives were shaped through Bethel’s worship, mission and youth programs. During a youth homecoming in 2014, the sanctuary overflowed with hundreds returning to give thanks for the nurture they had received.

MCEC Celebrates 18 Years of Transitioning into Ministry.

This past March, a group of 12 pastors gathered at Hidden Acres Mennonite Camp (HAC) to share stories and celebrate a journey of learning together. These were the last MCEC Transitioning into Ministry (TiM) equipping days. Started in 2007, the TiM program supported and prepared pastors as they began their ministry journeys.

Pastors come from a huge range of backgrounds. Some may come from a seminary education. Others are called from diverse careers or are bi-vocational pastors, leading congregations alongside a different day job. Whatever their personal backgrounds, pastors face unique challenges as they lead, support and teach in their communities. Seeing these challenges and the struggles faced by those beginning their ministry, MCEC wanted to help.
