Exploring Healthy Boundaries in Ministry

Dates: May 2 & 3, 2018
Time: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
Location: Conrad Grebel University College, Waterloo
Cost: $275.00 + HST
Facilitators: Marg Van Herk-Paradis

Description: Ministry is about coming alongside those to whom we minister in the messiness of life – messiness that takes us to deep and profound places.  In this context, it can be challenging to define and set boundaries; yet, to do so is critical for healthy relationships.

This two-day workshop will explore both traditional views and the latest research on healthy boundaries.  We will examine the various types of boundary crossings, the importance of vulnerability and emotional intelligence, the impact of the emotional health of the clergy or lay leader, the dynamics of power and how to build greater resilience in ministry.  Once completed, participants will have a greater understanding of boundaries and will gain several practical tools related to setting appropriate boundaries, caring for oneself and others that brings about healing and growth.
