God of love, Father and Mother and Parent of us all,
You who open doors and dismantle barriers,
who walked beside us as brother and friend,
who ate with outcasts and sinners,
who preached radical good news of freedom for the oppressed:
We gather before you as people
who seek to be your church with one another.
We come from many walks of life,
yet seek to discern your will together.
Open our hearts to the transforming power of your all-encompassing love,
that we might live the full truth of who we are,
reflecting the glorious diversity in which you have created us,
each one of us in your image.
Open our minds to your guidance,
that we might faithfully follow you as we embark on this journey.
Help us listen for your voice
not only where we expect it,
but also from those we have pushed to the margins,
for the stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
Open our hands in caring
for ourselves,
for each other,
and for this world you have created and entrusted to our care.
Let us never forget that all of us are your people,
called to proclaim the reign of God,
committed to follow Christ in life,
united as one body in the Spirit.
