MCEC Appoints John Head Interim Operations and Finance Director

October 4th

Ready to “hit the ground running” in support of MCEC

Mennonite Church Eastern Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of John Head as MCEC’s Interim Operations and Finance Director.

“This is an ideal fit with my desire to continue in a ministry role in a part time capacity,” says John. “Many churches are struggling with retaining the next generation of youth and young adults and I'd like to help in any way I can. I look forward to continuing the effective work of others so that finance and operations of MCEC undergirds the mission and better supports the churches.”

John, a certified management accountant, will provide strong leadership and oversight in the day-to-day operations and finances of MCEC and will work closely with the executive staff team in advancing MCEC’s strategic plan and priorities. “Finance and Operations are second nature since I have had similar roles over the years,” says John. “Knowing MCEC and many staff should allow me to ‘hit the ground running.’”

Well-known in the KW community and the not-for profit world, John most recently served as the executive director for MCC Ontario. He began with MCCO in 2014 in the area of operations as associate executive director. In 2018, he became executive director, a role he held until he retired earlier this year. Prior, he held various senior finance and human resources roles in the private sector.

“John is a person of faith and integrity and will be a compliment to MCEC,” says Ann L. Schultz, interim executive team leader. “His experience in both finance and organizational leadership will be a valuable asset during this season of transition.”

John begins his ministry this month with MCEC in this part-time role, which will conclude in May 2024. This interim period allows MCEC to continue to search for a strong, permanent Operations and Finance Director. You can reach John at jhead@mcec.ca.
