Inspired by Hope at MCEC Annual Church Gathering in Leamington

Inspired by Hope! The wonder and awe of God!

Register Today for this Important Gathering of the MCEC Community of Faith

You are invited to MCEC’s Annual Church Gathering at UMEI Christian Highschool in Leamington, ON April 26 & 27, 2024. Be inspired by the beauty of the area, the lavish produce of the many greenhouses, the beautiful migratory birds and by the amazing hope we find as a community of faith in Jesus.

“We need you this weekend,” says Ben Cassels, MCEC moderator. “We need your voice, your engagement, your wisdom, and your prayers as we gather to be the Church.”

You will hear stories of inspiration and experience the wonder and mystery of God. Inspired by Hope is our theme, from MCEC’s vision statement – MCEC is a diverse community, transformed by the love of God, inspired by the hope we find in Jesus, called to action by the power of the Holy Spirit. Our guiding scripture is from 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3: “We always thank God for all of you when we mention you constantly in our prayers. This is because we remember your work that comes from faith, your effort that comes from love, and your perseverance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.”

"We need your voice, your engagement, your wisdom,
and your prayers as we gather to be the Church."
- Ben Cassels, Moderator

How do we live in today’s society and culture in a way that is inspired by hope? What does it mean to live as a people of God in our changing world? How did we get here as a body of believers and where might we be heading in the future? Reminding us to embrace our rich theological, cultural and historical diversity within MCEC, Doug Klassen, Mennonite Church Canada’s executive minister, will guide us in reflecting on 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3.

“Many good things are happening at MCEC, and throughout out time together, we will have the opportunity to celebrate our purpose and our strategic priorities as we reflect on the past year, and look ahead to the coming year,” says Ann L. Schultz, MCEC executive team leader.

We will celebrate the impact of ministry over the past 10 years!

David Martin, former executive minister, and Brian Bauman, former mission minister, will return and join us on Friday evening to celebrate the Legacy Initiatives Fund and the impact in ministry over the past 10 years. Blessed to receive a bequest in 2012, MCEC was able to invest in many new ministry initiatives. David and Brian will highlight the impact this fund has had locally, provincially, nationally and internationally.

Five congregations will join MCEC this year. We will welcome them!

Catch the excitement as together we grow into the future!

We are excited to share the goals and objectives of our new strategic plan: Growing into the Future! Over the past year, MCEC Executive Council and staff have been working hard to develop this plan, incorporating the strategic priorities endorsed at the ACG in 2022. You will hear inspirational stories as we share year-one key tasks of our collective ministry. Catch the excitement as together we grow into the future!

Register now and be inspired by the hope we find in Jesus. See you in Leamington.
