March 23rdRehoboth Inner Healing Church Join MCEC
Rehoboth Inner Healing Church, located in Toronto, ON, is a small congregation worshipping in the languages of Tigrinya and English. Paulos Berhe is pastoral leader for this congregation.
A disciple-making congregation for all nations.
Founded in 2017, most of the congregation are recent immigrants (within the past decade) from Eritrea and northern Ethiopia. The congregation desires to be a disciple-making congregation for all nations. They recognize this will take time as many in the congregation continue to adjust to life in Canada.
With a strong emphasis on children’s ministry and discipleship, the congregation trains and teaches each member how to be a disciple of Jesus. As messengers of God’s peace, they reach out to a local shelter in their neighbourhood with clothing and other assistance. “We want to show people that they are not forgotten,” says Pastor Paulos. With a dream to start a youth ministry and raise leaders who are strong disciples, they pray for revival this next year.
Rehoboth Inner Healing Church rents space and meets every Sunday from 3-6 p.m., followed by a tea and fellowship time.
“Our prayers were answered,” says Pastor Paulos. “God provided us with a new system through our friends
at Harrow Mennonite Church. We are blessed.”
One morning, the members of Rehoboth arrived to Sunday service and the place was a mess. They, and their property owners, had been the victims of a break-in. Their brand new sound system was gone. Someone had walked into their rented location and walked out with the equipment.
At the same time, Harrow Mennonite Church was celebrating their anniversary and wanted to bless a new MCEC congregation with a gift. They reached out to Norm Dyck, Mission Minister, who connected the two congregations. “Our prayers were answered,” says Pastor Paulos. “God provided us with a new system through our friends at Harrow Mennonite Church. We are blessed.”
Rehoboth Inner Healing Church has been accepted into provisional membership in MCEC by the Executive Council. They have been in relationship with MCEC through the Mission Office since 2019. They will be welcomed at the Annual Church Gathering in April 2024 in Leamington, ON.
