Ben Thiessen Begins as MCEC Communications Assistant

young man smiling outside MCEC is thrilled to announce the appointment of Ben Thiessen as Communications Assistant.

“I'm excited to work at MCEC,” says Ben. “I look forward to helping connect Mennonites from geographical distances and varied life experiences as part of one larger church.”

As Communications Assistant, Ben will play a vital role in telling MCEC’s story, using his expertise in social media management and content creation to help energize congregations, encourage leaders, and embody God’s reconciling ministry for all creation. “We’re excited to welcome Ben to the team,” says Lisa Williams, Director of Communications. “His fresh insights and digital storytelling experience will be a valuable asset as we strengthen our communication efforts and connect with our diverse community.”

Ben is a fourth-year Political Science major at Wilfrid Laurier University, deeply connected to the church community. He attends Toronto United Mennonite Church and has been the Recreation Director at Ontario Mennonite Music Camp for several years. Recently, Ben worked as an Advertising Representative at Canadian Mennonite, supporting a wide network across Canada. Known for his creativity and teamwork, references describe him as someone who “goes the extra mile” to support those around him.

“Being involved in the church has been fulfilling and important to my personal growth,” Ben says. “I’m eager to help shape a message that speaks to and inspires young people.”
