A Message from the Executive Minister: Anthony Siegrist

February 5th

As I begin my role with MCEC, I do so with a deep sense of gratitude. When I opened my new MCEC inbox for the first time, I found an email from a member of one of our congregations letting me know that she was praying for me—already, before I had even begun! I’m conscious as well of the hard work and passion invested by our spiritual ancestors and those organizational forbearers that have made this extended Mennonite community possible. With this kind of support and with the deep well of God’s grace, there’s much that we can do together.

I count it a privilege to support those who walk alongside our communities of faith and their leaders at this time.

At the same time, I know that some of our congregations are going through significant challenges—the death of longstanding members, financial difficulties, questions about purpose, matters of discernment, and the polarized times in which we live. I count it a privilege to support those who walk alongside our communities of faith and their leaders at this time.

In the months to come, I anticipate encouraging all of us to be attentive to the Spirit of God, to be open to the voice that moves and calls and lights up new paths. I also hope to invite our communities to practice radical hospitality when it is so tempting to close ranks and turn inward. There is much that I will need to learn, but I look forward to doing so the company of this group of Jesus-followers.

Anthony Seigrist started in his role as MCEC Executive Minister on February 1, 2025.
