Welcome Victory Christ’s Ambassadors Church to Provisional Membership
April 17th
Welcome Victory Christ’s Ambassadors Church (VCAC) to provisional membership with MCEC.
This community of over 90 members, located in the Scarborough area, has been meeting since 2021. They described themselves as “a church committed to discipleship and holistic renewal, we seek to walk faithfully in God’s purpose while fostering a community that embodies His love, grace, and truth.”
Many of the members of VCAC had formed a church in Ethiopia in 2001, leading a strong community of faith. Upon arriving in Canada they felt a call to continue that work of church planting, bringing people together for prayer and worship. They started as a small group, but have grown quickly, hosting meetings both online and in-person multiple times a week.
Anabaptist mission and values are at the heart of their community. They write “At the heart of the Anabaptist faith is the belief in following Jesus Christ in all aspects of life, emphasizing personal faith, active discipleship, and a commitment to living out the gospel in daily practice.” As they join the MCEC community of congregations, their dedication to peace, reconciliation and social justice is a true gift.
Valuing collective participation in ministry, VCAC has a strong group of lay leaders that plan worship and support their community. They are led by Sr. Pastor Bereket Mekonnen.
We are excited to welcome Victory Christ’s Ambassadors Church to provisional membership at MCEC Annual Church Gathering 2025, and more publicly at MC Canada’s Gathering 2025 this summer.
