Welcome Oromo Evangelical Church of Ottawa to Full Membership with MCEC

April 17th

We welcome Oromo Evangelical Church of Ottawa to full membership with MCEC.

This congregation of 30 members began worshipping together in 2004 and joined MCEC as an provisional congregation in 2017. Their first connection with MCEC came in 2010, and their leaders have regularly attended MCEC Annual Gatherings to grow in relationship and connection. Their congregation is largely of people from the Oromo community of Ethiopia.

“It is with great joy and humility that we accept this opportunity to join in fellowship with such an historic community of faith.”

Led by Pastor Wondimu Senbeto, this community meets on Sunday morning in a City of Ottawa community center and has weekly prayer meetings and Bible studies over Zoom. They describe their vision as “being a church where all things are done for God’s glory while earnestly waiting for the blessed hope.”

After walking alongside MCEC as a provisional member for the last eight years, their congregation is excited to take the next step into full membership.

In their own words “It is with great joy and humility that we accept this opportunity to join in fellowship with such an historic community of faith.”

Oromo Evangelical Church of Ottawa will be welcomed into full-member status as MCEC ACG 2025, and will be more publicly welcomed at MC Canada Gathering 2025 this summer.
