“I chose to be part of the Executive Council to help shape and contribute to the strategic direction of the organization. My vision for MCEC has always been to expand its work and strengthen support for its constituents,” reflects Richard Steinmann, member of the Executive Council. “In these changing times, churches are facing many new challenges, and I believe MCEC is uniquely positioned to help congregations navigate and adapt to those changes."

I’ve always approached leadership with a practical, forward‑thinking mindset.

Rich has served on Executive Council since 2020 and has a long history of supporting MCEC ministry. Over the years, he has brought his wisdom and experience to many areas of leadership, including the Investment Property Committee, Administrative and Financial Services Council and as an MCEC representative on partner organization boards.

Rich attends Steinmann Mennonite Church, where he serves as treasurer and is a member of the Vision Focus Team. Professionally, he has worked as a real estate broker for 45 years, with experience in property management, building and land development.

“With 45 years of experience in real estate, I’ve always approached leadership with a practical, forward‑thinking mindset—focusing on long‑term planning, sound financial stewardship and sustainable growth,” he says. “Serving on various boards has stretched my thinking and broadened my perspective, especially when navigating challenging situations.”

The challenges facing the church today require innovation, collaboration and adaptability.

Beyond his professional and church commitments, Rich enjoys learning about innovative ideas in health and wellness, modern building design and materials and investing—growing the gifts he’s been blessed with so that he can share generously with others. Recently, he also returned to downhill skiing after a 46‑year break. “It reminded me that it’s never too late to try something new. And even if I fall, it’s still forward motion,” he laughs. “If you’re not living on the edge, you’re taking up too much space.”

As Rich concludes his time on the Executive Council, he offers this final reflection: “As I depart from the board, I believe it is important to make space for new voices, fresh ideas and renewed energy. The challenges facing the church today require innovation, collaboration and adaptability and I'm confident that the next generation of leaders will continue to build on the foundation that has been laid.”

Rich concludes his role on the Executive Council in April 2026.

Dedicated members of the Executive Council provide thoughtful guidance and make key decisions that support and strengthen MCEC’s ministry.
