CommonWord Bookstore and Resource Centre
Located in Winnipeg, CommonWord is our nationwide resource centre and bookstore. They bring faith-based books and resources to individuals and congregations through buying, borrowing and online access. They provide free borrowing (mail delivery), downloadable resources, and purchase options for:

  • Faith formation curricula
  • Anabaptist theology
  • Books, courses, and studies

Leadership Development & Networks

  • Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary
    A seminary of MC Canada and MC USA located in Elkhart, IN, offering Master's degrees and certificates for Christian leadership. AMBS serves the church as a learning community with an Anabaptist vision, educating followers of Jesus Christ to be leaders for God's reconciling mission in the world.
    • Journey: A Missional Leadership Development Program
      A distance-friendly certificate program that develops leaders centered in Jesus Christ for ministries in local churches and communities. Learners join with a mentor to explore spiritual leadership together in your own context. The Journey Program is for pastors, church planters and other congregational and community leaders. MCEC is a sponsoring regional church of this program.
    • Pastors and Leaders Conference
      An annual gathering of pastors and those who hold leadership roles in local congregations, chaplaincy contexts, regional churches and denominational settings. A time to meet together to connect, worship, learn and be inspired for our ministries. This occurs in February each year.
    • MCEC Scholarship
      The MCEC Scholarship was created to encourage and support Canadian students who current serve, or have a desire to serve, Mennonite Church Canada. Awarded annually to Canadian students who are enrolled in a master's program. Students from MCEC congregations are given preference.
    • Canadian Tuition Discount
      Current students in a graduate program at Conrad Grebel University College or Canadian Mennonite University receive a 50% tuition discount on all AMBS courses.
    • Sequential MTS-MDiv Sequential Degree Arrangements
      AMBS and Conrad Grebel have a collaborative arrangement in which Canadian students earning an MTS degree can also earn a MDiv degree through AMBS. 

  • Conrad Grebel University College
    Founded by the Mennonite church and affiliated with the University of Waterloo, Conrad Grebel University College seeks wisdom, nurtures faith and pursues justice and peace in service to church and society. The mission and programs of Grebel are rooted in and inspired by Christian identity and Anabaptist/Mennonite heritage.
    • MCEC/Grebel Pastoral Leadership Award
      This award offers full tuition for part-time students who are pastors or other designated denominational leaders in Mennonite Church Eastern Canada congregations or institutions.

    • Women of MCEC Theological Studies Award
      This award provides direct financial support to Mennonite women interested in a church related vocation enrolled in the MTS program. Priority is given to those with financial need.
    • Mennonite Diversity Award
      Designed to make an educational experience at Conrad Grebel accessible to Mennonite students from culturally diverse backgrounds.
    • Grebel Cooperative MTS-MDiv Sequential Degree Arrangements
      Students can complete a Master of Theological Studies (MTS) degree at Grebel/University of Waterloo, and then proceeding to complete a Masters of Divinity at AMBS or CMU.

  • TiM (Transitioning into Ministry) Program - MC Canada
    MC Canada program that supports new pastors in their first years of ministry with mentoring, cohorts, and formation. Contact Marilyn Rudy-Froese, Leadership Minister, for more information.

Pastoral Assistance/Formation Funds

  1. MCEC Leadership Formation Fund - Policy & Applications
    MCEC supports persons in ministry as well as those considering ministry. This fund assists current pastors, aspiring leaders and lay leaders in MCEC in obtaining
    theological education and training for congregational ministry and/or chaplaincy by reducing the personal cost of preparation for ministry and encouraging pastors and
    pastoral candidates to attend preferred schools. This fund also assists licensed and ordained pastors of full-status congregations in MCEC and their congregations to pursue opportunities for spiritual renewal and refreshment.

  2. Company of 1000 Study Reserve Fund - MC Canada

    The Company of 1000 fund assists both pastors currently serving in Mennonite Church Canada congregations as well as potential pastors and students who are exploring an opportunity to test their calling within a congregational setting. Deadline for applications to Company of 1000 are May 15 and October 15.
