Ministry Transitions and Milestones 2024
Blessing for Leaders
May God, who calls you to this ministry,
Grant you grace, joy, and endurance.
May Christ guide and empower you for service and leadership
May the Holy Spirit fill you with the gifts you need.
May the One whose love unites us as the body of Christ
Strengthen us to live and proclaim the gospel together.
Amen

Where do you find your inspiration?
How are you inspired by hope?
How do we live a transformed, inspired and called life?
"Hope is persistent and ongoing. It is not a one-time event. It is the ceaseless nature of our hope in Jesus that calls us to a lifelong transformation, a lifelong journey of orienting our lives toward Christ."
- Laurel Rounds Fretz

Licensed Toward Ordination
This licensing credential is given for a period of time (generally 2 years). The licensing period is not only a time of testing God's call to ministry but also is a period when the church supports the candidate so that they will succeed in ministry.
This includes an assessment and reflection on the person's ministry within the congregation from both the congregation and minister, followed by an interview with MCEC’s Leadership Council. MCEC arranges for an experienced pastor within MCEC to serve as a pastoral mentor to the licensed person, and may also recommend additional reading, courses or other requirements to be completed prior to consideration for ordination.
Ordination
Ordination is a covenant relationship between congregation, minister and the wider church. It is a long-term ministry credential given to pastors, chaplains and those who the church has discerned to have a continuing ministerial leadership role in and on behalf of the church. It normally follows the period during which the candidate holds a license.
Preparation for ordination includes assessment and reflection on the person's ministry within the congregation from both the congregation and the minister, followed by an interview with MCEC’s Leadership Council. While MCEC is responsible for the ordination credential, they need counsel from the congregation and candidate in order to make a good decision.

How are you inspired by hope?
How do we live a transformed, inspired and called life?
"When we invite more hope into our lives, and our churches, we have a new ability to reveal Christ in the most unbelievable locations, in unexpected people, and in exciting new ways; Christ is closer than we realize."
