MCEC Announces Sharon Schwartzentruber as Accountant
September 18th
MCEC is pleased to announce the appointment of Sharon Schwartzentruber to the position of Accountant.
“I feel strongly that this is a God-driven moment in my life,” says Sharon. “I was ready for a change. This opportunity came, and everything started falling into place. I’m excited to see it unfold.”
“It feels like I’m coming back home.”
Sharon grew up at Tavistock Mennonite Church, where she fondly recalls the comforting sound of communion cups clicking as they were returned to the tray. That simple sound symbolized a sense of belonging and community for her. When Sharon later left Tavistock and searched for a new congregational home, she knew she had found it when she once again heard that familiar sound during communion.
“Coming to work at MCEC feels a bit like that,” she says. “It feels like I’m coming back home.”
Passionate about the church, Sharon looks forward to engaging with the Mennonite community and sharing her gifts in a Christian setting. She brings nearly 30 years of experience in finance as a Senior Staff Accountant at HFK McRae and Wilson LLP Chartered Professional Accountants. She has also served as Church Treasurer for three different congregations, including Tavistock Mennonite Church.
"We are thrilled to have her join the MCEC team."
Described as kind, dedicated and highly knowledgeable, one reference remarked that “her knowledge and dedication is second to none!”
“Sharon has deep accounting skills and brings invaluable experience to help chart the way forward for MCEC. We are thrilled to have her join the MCEC team,” shared Laurie Castello, MCEC's Operations and Finance Director.
Sharon began her role on September 16, 2024 and is excited to contribute her skills and experience to support MCEC’s purpose of energizing congregations, encouraging leaders and embodying God’s reconciling ministry for all creation. You can reach her at sschwartzentruber@mcec.ca.
