Canadian Mennonite Subscription Update for MCEC Congregations

Helping congregations stay connected to the life and work of the church across Canada.

Canadian Mennonite Subscription Update
for MCEC Congregations

Canadian Mennonite and Mennonite Church Canada have completed a renewed covenant that will guide our relationship from 2027 through 2029. This covenant establishes a consistent partnership model across all five Regional Churches in Canada and reflects our commitment to strengthening communication, connection and engagement across our nationwide faith community.

Beginning in 2027, the Every Home Plan will operate under a new funding model.

For as long as the Every Home Plan has been in place, MCEC has enabled congregations to receive subscriptions to Canadian Mennonite at no direct cost to individual subscribers or congregations. While congregations have managed subscriptions directly with Canadian Mennonite, MCEC has invested between $50,000 and $90,000 annually to fund those subscriptions.

Under the renewed covenant, responsibility for a portion of the subscription costs will shift to participating congregations and subscribers.

What does this mean for your congregation?

  1. Congregations or individual subscribers will assume responsibility for the $25 annual subscription cost through the Every Home Plan. MCEC will continue to provide significant financial support through its annual budget, allowing subscriptions to remain available at this reduced rate. This funding model will be implemented consistently across all Regional Churches in Canada.

  2. Each congregation will continue working directly with Canadian Mennonite to manage subscriptions. Congregations wishing to manage their subscriptions directly through Canadian Mennonite’s online portal may request access by contacting Lorna Aberdein at office@canadianmennonite.org.

  3. Canadian Mennonite will manage this transition so that current subscribers continue to receive the magazine without interruption. Congregations will receive the annual invoice from Canadian Mennonite Publishing Services based on the number of participating households in the congregation. Contact Lorna with any questions.

Canadian Mennonite remains an important publication providing reporting, analysis, stories of faith and information to help congregations stay connected to the life and work of the church across Canada. This communication follows information shared by MCEC in June and Canadian Mennonite in September. We encourage congregations to review these changes carefully and begin planning now for participation in the Every Home Plan in 2027.
