Jun 25th, 2026Lunch and Learn: The Language of Peace
No shortage of words for peace, just shortage of peace.
We hope for peace and live in the "language of peace" but where has it brought humanity and the planet in the 21st century. Why is peace so elusive? Why is the language not bringing us closer to peace? Clearly, it is not from lack of fervent desire or lack of activism by many hundreds of million of people of goodwill.
In order to get closer to realizing peace in the world, we need first to acknowledge what is holding it back. Not an easy task but a necessary one if we are to get to peace. Sadly there are great world (and local) forces which do not want peace and have developed a language of peace which is not genuine or conducive to peace. Robert looks at the language of peace and why it betrays the pursuit of peace and how we can begin to recapture the language and the peace. All are invited to conversation following.

Robert Massoud founded Zatoun, fair trade olive oil from Palestine in 2004 to be a peace bridge between Canada and Palestine. The olive tree and its gifts to humankind serve as symbols of peace, light, warmth and divinity. The core message of Robert's writing and speaking is that Palestine-Israel is of direct interest to all humanity and its resolution vital to peace in the world and ultimately to the health of the planet.
