Nov 21st, 2026MCEC Day of Fasting and Prayer

Join congregations across MCEC on November 21 for a shared day of prayer and fasting as we seek God's presence, guidance and renewal together.

Throughout Scripture, fasting is a way of humbling ourselves before God, deepening our dependence on God and creating space to listen and pray with greater attentiveness.

Fasting typically means abstaining from food and drink from sunrise to sunset, though this may not be medically appropriate for everyone. Participants are encouraged to take part in a way that is suitable for their circumstances, whether by abstaining from a particular food, skipping a meal, or setting aside activities such as social media or entertainment in order to focus more intentionally on prayer and God's presence.

To conclude the day, you are invited to a corporate prayer gathering from 6-9 p.m. in the Community Room at MCEC, 50 Kent Ave., Kitchener, ON. Congregations across MCEC are also encouraged to gather locally for prayer, allowing us to join together in worship and intercession across the region. Contact Micah Peters Unrau for resources for a corporate prayer gathering.
